What is WHEFA?
In order for nonprofits to access tax-exempt financing, a governmental entity must issue bonds on their behalf. The Wisconsin Health & Educational Facilities Authority (WHEFA) is such an entity. Created by the Legislature in 1973 (Chapter 231, Wisconsin Statutes), WHEFA is a conduit issuer of tax-exempt revenue bonds for all nonprofit organizations in the State of Wisconsin. WHEFA has been the conduit issuer for 905 financings in excess of $29 billion over its 41-year history.
Member Meetings
The WHEFA Members meet approximately 8-10 times per year as needed. Projects are grouped together and presented for Member consideration and approval toward the end of the financing process. The next WHEFA Member meeting has not yet been scheduled.
