WHEFA Bond Financing Helps Milwaukee School of Engineering Renovate and Refinance in Milwaukee

Bonds Underwritten by Robert W. Baird & Co.

“MSOE is proud to be investing in the future and appreciate our partnership with WHEFA. The tax-exempt financing will directly support MSOE’s mission to be the university of choice for those seeking an inclusive community of experiential learners driven to solve the complex challenges of today and tomorrow.”
– Dawn Thibedeau, VP of Finance & CFO
  Milwaukee School of Engineering

Bond financing facilitated by WHEFA will be used to help Milwaukee School of Engineering (“MSOE”) finance costs associated with reconfiguring existing space in the Campus Center building to create a Welcome Center and relocate departments and services housed within the building. As student and community interest in MSOE’s programs continues to grow, the Welcome Center will comfortably accommodate campus visitors. The center will include flexible meeting space; private meeting areas for families and their admissions counselor; MSOE’s bookstore and spirit wear shop; and common areas for students, faculty and staff to study, work and collaborate. Proceeds of the bond financing also will support upgrading the brick façade and other miscellaneous capital improvements to the Campus Center as well as across the campus.  Proceeds of the bond financing were also used to refinance certain other indebtedness.  This tax-exempt and taxable financing process has enabled MSOE to operate more effectively by refinancing its capital expenses at low interest rates.

WHEFA is proud to continue its mission of assisting all eligible Wisconsin nonprofit institutions to obtain and maintain access to tax-exempt financing in order to finance or refinance their capital improvement and expansion needs.
